Lloyd Roberts aka Alfred E. Griffiths (23 September 1892 – 22 December 1917) died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound while stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was twenty-five years old.

He was born in Slatington.

We have very few details of his military service.

It appears that he enlisted at Fort Slocum, New York on 15 May 1917.

He served with Company K, 19th infantry regiment at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas until his death.

Private Roberts was buried in the Fairview Cemetery, Slatington, Pennsylvania.

Before his enlistment in the army, he was principal of the high school in Walnutport where his wife was a teacher.
