First Slate Factory
Dublin Core
Title
First Slate Factory
Description
According to my cousin, "The earliest industrial building is just down Factory St. It was built by Robert McDowell, one of the industrial giants of the town, as a slate mantel factory. In its early years it served as the first borough hall and his daughter, Rebecca, taught the first public school in this building prior to the public school system. It housed many industries over the years. Mantz Fuel offices have used this building since the 1950s. Northern Lehigh Sporting Goods is also in this building"
