Old stereoscopic image of the quarry on the outskirts of Slatington (now filled in and used by the borough).

An early use of a core drill to check if it was worthwhile to open a quarry on a site. Before use of the drill came into operation, it was pretty often just educated guesswork where to site a new quarry.

The town is to the left of this quarry scene.

There are a couple of railroad boxcars in the photo, placed there for loading of roofing slates (most likely).

This was a pretty complex operation as evidenced by all the supporting buildings.
